Smoked Salmon and Brown Rice

Smoked Salmon

Okay, so that salmon furikake on my chazuke the other night was all right. But it left me wanting salmon that I can actually bite into. Luckily I had a jar of smoked salmon from a craft fair this past Christmas. Apparently there is a local fisherman from Hawaii who goes salmon fishing in Alaska every year. They get it packed and shipped back to Hawaii to sell during the winter season.

Smoked Salmon and Brown Rice

I don’t think we need a recipe today. Just flake the salmon apart and serve on hot brown rice!

Okay, now this must be a sign that I need to change my ways of cooking salmon only when nothing else catches my eye at the market. I think this must be the 3rd? 4th? salmon post that I’ve read TODAY!

What I miss are the smoked salmon belly strips. Those I don’t see here, but I’m glad that an islander has turned a hobby into a business!

Hi Rowena,
That’s funny. Everyone must be on some kind of salmon trip right now. Even me, in the last couple weeks I’ve had smoked salmon, salmon chazuke, salmon skin sushi, salmon skin salad, and salmon tofu patties! I think it’s time for some meat tonight…or at least poultry. :)

It looks very good,
And I though it was orange peels too!

Hi Cindy,
Yes, this was good. Normally I’m not a super huge smoked salmon fan but this one was really moist and tasty!
