Baked Garlic Fries

Sorry to my coworkers that I’m going to see tomorrow, but I just couldn’t resist making garlic fries for my after work snack today. You see, usually when I want to eat something with a lot of garlic or raw onions, I schedule it for a Saturday dinner so that by the time Monday rolls around I have no worries. But this was one of those rare times that I couldn’t wait until the weekend. Tomorrow I’ll try to keep my distance.
INGREDIENTS
2 potatoes
1/2 tsp garlic (or regular) salt
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 Tbsp vegetable oil
1 Tbsp olive oil
1/2 tsp pepper

DIRECTIONS
On a non stick baking sheet, toss the cut potatoes with 1 Tbsp vegetable oil, 1/2 tsp of salt, and pepper. Make sure the potatoes are in a single layer and bake at 400 degrees F for 40 to 50 minutes. Flip the fries over once or twice throughout the baking process.
While the fries are baking in the oven, heat 1 Tbsp of olive oil in a large pan on low heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for a couple minutes. When the potatoes are done baking, toss them into this pan of garlic and now garlic infused oil. Give it a taste, if you want more flavor add another 1/2 tsp of salt.

I have never made my own garlic fries, but when I saw the call for 3 cloves of garlic….it was like, YES! We are insanely crazy for garlic, regardless of the “smell” later on. Great stuff!
I’ve never tried garlic fries; this sounds really interesting and great photos too. Starring this one!
Those look absolutely delicious, I love garlic! You can always chew on a sprig of parsley, just make sure not to get any in between your teeth
whoa! that is a LOT of garlic….maybe if you brought some to share, then everyone wouldn’t mind
Wow, tossing them in oil and garlicky goodness *after* cooking? Why didn’t I ever think of that??? Great idea, they look delicious!
Ooh, this recipes looks amazing! Amazingly garlicky, but amazingly tasty too… I am not sure I dare to try that much garlic but mmm… I love the prep method too!

Baked garlic fries? Oh no, now we need to try to make this. Everyone knows, we love potatoes and garlic. A match made in heaven!
Adding garlic to fries sounds good. Or maybe dipping fries into a garlicky mayo sauce.
Hi rowena,
Yup, I love garlic too. Don’t cook it too long in the oil and it’ll stay nice and garlicky!
Hi Pixie,
When you try it be careful, they can be addicting.
Hi LyB,
Thanks, always great to have a fellow garlic lover around here!
Hi kat,
I know, it does sound like a lot of garlic. If you’re worried, keep it cooking a little longer on low heat in the oil, it won’t be as strong.
Hi Elle,
I actually use this technique to make garlic oil a lot. It’s really good in salad dressings too!
Hi Seamaiden,
Thanks, it is amazingly garlicky. Great to satisfy that garlic craving.
Hi White On Rice Couple,
I agree, a match made in heaven.
Hi Kevin,
Garlic mayo sounds like a great idea!
These gorgeous golden garlicky morsels could become addictive!
Hi Lori,
So I’m just checking back to see how it went with the coworkers! I was actually thinking about garlic fries today, but got sidetracked with errands. I am definitely making these tomorrow!
p.s. Glad you enjoyed the link(s). Hopefully one day we’ll make it out there!
Hi Alfie,
You are so right!
Hi rowena,
I’m pretty sure I got away with it. It helps that the AC is really cold where I work. I bet if I was sweating away it would’ve been a different story!
When you bake these, make sure you don’t line your pan with regular foil. I did once and boy did I have a mess of stuck fries!
