Oki Doki

A special thank you to my coworker who gave me this bag of Japanese style rice cracker snacks earlier this year. Thanks!!
The little star on the package is telling me “Baked Not Fried”. Could that mean this is a healthy snack? After an inspection of the back label I spy one ingredient that I try to stay away from (well, at least when I’m cooking at home), MSG. It’s number 6 on the list of ingredients. But on the plus side, there’s no fat or cholesterol, and a respectable amount of sodium and carbs. I’d say this qualifies as a good substitute to snacking on potato chips.
Taste wise, if Japanese senbei and BBQ potato chips had a kid, it would be this snack. It has the texture of senbei with the powdered BBQ seasoning of BBQ potato chips.

I think the guy on the left is the only one with a clue about what’s about to happen next.

hahaha!!! Those other two do look pretty happy to be there. Sad for them.
hahaha, too kawaii.
looks like a great snack! I wonder if they’ll have some in Japan.
oh sooo cute! What else will the ingenious Japanese think of next?
Hi Elle, Kaman, and White on Rice Couple,
I know, so cute yeah? At first I pulled out a bunch of smiling ones in a row. Then I noticed the scared looking one, it was so funny!
Hi kat,
Hmm, I’m not sure. I didn’t see any while I was there. But then again, I didn’t get around to too many markets.
