Holoholo to the Windward Side

Lanikai Beach

Holoholo = Going out for fun and relaxation.

Windward Oahu

Yesterday we went holoholo since I finished my weekend project for work earlier than expected.

For us to get to the windward side we just needed to take a quick trip over the H3 freeway. After passing through the tunnel you are greeted with this view of Kaneohe Bay.

Windward Oahu

We headed over to the windward side of Oahu today for some lunch, window shopping at Windward Mall, and driving around Kailua side.

Kailua Beach

Can’t wait until summer when there will be more time to go holoholo!

Beautiful photos! I wasn’t able to visit that area when I was there last October. Now I want to travel to Hawaii again. :P

Hi kat,
It was actually your posts of going out on the weekends that made me want to go holoholo too. :D

Hi Joy,
Next time if it’s a nice sunny day, head on over to the windward side. It’s so lush and green with some nice beaches! ;)

Hi Elle,
Your state is also so beautiful, especially during winter! :D

Being such a workaholic waaaaay back then, I didn’t realize how much fun holoholo was until my friend actually forced me to get into the car for a drive to the other side of Kauai. Packed a cooler of beer, picked up some raw crab poke and other goodies from the fish shop, and we were all set. Nothing like that over here!

Beautiful, I have to that spot with the two little islands, it’s gorgeous!

Hi noble pig,
That place with the two islands is called Lanikai beach. It has really soft sand!

My daughter and I stayed in Kailua last Spring. We walked to Kailua Beach from our bed and breakfast. It was breathtaking. And when we drive into the city we would pass those sculpted mountains…awesome! We love the windward side!
