Thank you!

Tokyo Gifts

I received a great surprise in the mail this week, a gift sent from Tokyo!

This summer our friends from Tokyo spent two months vacationing here in Hawaii. While they were here, a couple of their other friends from Japan came for a short one week visit.

We had a fun barbecue with all of them. With my dad we also took one of them who happens to be a chef/restaurant owner from Tokyo out to dinner one night.

This generous present is from the chef as a thank you for that week.

What nice things! I could’ve used that knife to fillet some fish I had.

Hi noble pig and Lisa,
I was so excited to see that knife. I was really in need of a good one!

You’ll have to let us know what the yuzu pepper paste tastes like. And that fish knife looks really good!

Hi jenny,
I know, so lucky! :D

Hi lauren,
I’m also curious about that yuzu seasoning, I’ve never used it before. I read on the bottle that it could be used with somen or udon. I’m not sure what else, fish maybe?

Lori, what a score! Honestly, that is one of the most loveliest pieces of pottery cookware that I’ve ever seen, and how exciting to also receive the spices (never heard of them) and fish knife.

Thanks for the welcome home. I’m still fighting with the time zone change….agggh…no can sleep when I’m supposed to so I was looking for some inspiration on what to eat (ha! at 1:20 am). The problem that I’m having is that there is SO much good stuff to choose that I dunno where to start!

Hey rowena,
Yup, can’t wait to use all the new stuff! And I also can’t wait to see all the places you go eat on Kauai!! :D
