Eating Vegetarian in Japan

Picture of Daikon

Aloha!

We just returned from a two week trip to Japan! It was so fun, I have so much to share here during the next couple weeks.

If you are a regular reader, you may have noticed that we’ve been eating vegetarian a lot more lately. This is strictly for health reasons and let me tell you, it totally works for us! After about a week, I noticed I had a lot more energy. Then after a couple more weeks I went down one pants size. But the best part for me is that I have so much more energy now. I used to be tired all the time so this new feeling is great!

Back to Japan…I was a little worried that we would have a hard time finding food but it was actually very easy. In Hawaii, we eat about 90% vegetarian. In Japan it did fall to about 70% vegetarian, but that was by choice. There was no way I was going to pass up the freshest sushi and sashimi as well as my other Japanese favorites.

So if you need ideas for eating vegetarian in Japan, check out the following posts from Japan Trip 2009. You will see many meals of onigiri, soba, vegetable tempura, yuba, and more!

I am jealous! Living in Hawaii, you are just a skip and hop away from Japan. I want to visit that country! Welcome back, I am looking forward in seeing some food porn!

I was wondering about the vegetarian posts. That’s great that you have more energy and went down a pants size!
