Longhi’s Ala Moana: Are you kidding me?!

When it was finally the week for our friends from Tokyo to return home, we went with my dad to take them out for a sayonara dinner at Longhi’s in Ala Moana. I’ve been here once before, and several times to the Longhi’s on Maui.
What I remember about this restaurant, especially on Maui, is that it was always so accommodating with excellent service and good food. I remember back when they didn’t use menus. The waiter would just ask you what you felt like eating - seafood, meat, chicken, pasta, etc. And in a couple minutes you’d have a personalized order being sent to the kitchen.

Tiramisu Pudding Trifle

Sometimes on a Friday afternoon after a “challenging” week at work, you just need a little pick me up. This was my situation several weeks ago. Whole Wheat Walnut Brownies

Today’s recipe is for a classic brownie with walnuts. Growing up, I wasn’t so crazy about nuts. But as I got older I started to appreciate the added taste and texture that it added to certain recipes. And since I needed to make something this weekend to use up the remaining walnuts I had from the banana muffins the other day, here we have whole wheat walnut brownies. And really, what’s better than endorphin-releasing chocolate with walnuts?

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Pudding Cookies

Did you ever get a craving for cookies at 10:30 p.m. on a work night…and actually go and make them? I looked at the bake time on my recipe, 10 to 15 minutes. I thought, that’s pretty fast I’ll have cookies in no time. Wrong! With the rummaging through the cupboards for ingredients, mixing up the batch, baking time, and cleaning up, it was 11:15 p.m. before I took my first bite of oatmeal chocolate chip pudding cookie. Was it worth it? I think so. Anyway, somebody has to make use of the caffeine laden diet soda in the fridge at work.
