Trader Joe’s, Las Vegas

As I think it is required by Hawaii law, we picked up some Trader Joe’s omiyage for our friends and family while we were in Vegas.
But most of the stuff we got was for ourselves – snacks for while we were there and some sauces I wanted to try for dinner. My cousin also gave us even more Trader Joe’s goodies, two big bags full of snacks. Above and below are pictures of some of our loot!

Do you have a favorite Trader Joe’s product?

Orchids Garden Dim Sum and Sushi Dan, Vegas

Towards the end of our stay in Vegas, we went to a brunch party at Orchids Garden and had some dim sum.
Since there were a lot of people in our group we ordered many, many plates of dim sum. It was hard to take pictures because all I wanted to do was eat as soon as they put each plate down on the table! Here’s what I managed to snap before giving in.

My favorites were the bean curd roll, clams, and a spicy kind of beef look fun. But everything that I tried was very tasty. I’d definitely go there again if we were in town.

Later that night we went to dinner at Sushi Dan. My cousin who recommended the restaurant came along with us.
She had the tempura roll and salmon nigiri.

My mom had a salmon teishoku – it was a tasty and huge portion.

The two of us shared a spicy ahi roll

Assorted tempura

Wakame udon

And a sushi combo platter.

It was so much food! I guess our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. We shared our tempura and sushi with my mom and cousin, without that we wouldn’t have come close to finishing it all!

After dinner it was pretty late and my mom was getting tired so we dropped her off at the hotel. We decided to stay out a little longer and check out Bellagio.
We went through their fall display in the lobby which was pretty. This guy below was my favorite.

And of course we had to see the water show outside!

It had been so many years since either of us had been to Vegas, we weren’t too sure what to expect. But I’m happy to say that we both had much more fun than we expected. I can see why so many people from Hawaii like to hang out here. Now if only those airfare prices would go back down!

In-N-Out and Bass Pro Shops, Vegas

Just a couple days after we came back from Hilo we were off again to Las Vegas. So yeah…look away if you were expecting anything healthy in this post.
We went with my cousin (who lives in Vegas) to this simple yet popular fast food spot. We don’t have an In-N-Out in Hawaii so we were glad to stop here for lunch.
My husband and I shared a double double as seen in the photo at the top. Another double double that was animal style (mustard cooked patty, pickle, extra spread, and grilled onions) – and an order of fries.

Here the writing on the package tries to make you feel less guilty about chowing down on a huge double cheeseburger and fries.

And of course you can feel even better about eating here when they have bible verses on their packaging…right?

The next evening we stopped by the place I was most looking forward to in Vegas. No, not gambling, or outlet shopping or even buffets…but Bass Pro Shop!!

I love this store! And the entrance sign below is pretty funny. That’s why I always take my camera with me when I go fishing.

There were all kinds of animal displays around this huge store.

And a fun shooting game that we all played. I was pretty good, must be all those years playing Duck Hunt!

And then…

There is so much to see and buy here. We spent 2 hours just looking around at everything and picking out a few gifts for ourselves and for others back home. If you’re an outdoorsy type person or a fisherman/fisherwoman, you gotta stop by Bass Pro Shop while you’re in Vegas!
